Guanaja is the Bay Island the crowds skip — the farthest-out of Honduras's three, about 7 miles east of Roatán and a world away from the cruise-port bustle. No cars, no traffic, no dive-boat convoys fighting for the same mooring. Just a barrier reef so lightly visited the dive staff still discover new sites, and an island wrapped in the kind of blue water that makes your friends back home think you edited the photos.

For a full week, S3 Adventures is taking over the Villa on Dunbar Rock — a private-island resort perched on its own rock just off Guanaja, 15,000 square feet across four floors, with an infinity pool, a dive shop at the waterline, and a house reef you can jump into whenever the mood strikes. We're buying out the whole villa. That means the island is yours and your crew's — no strangers at dinner, no strangers on the boat.

Getting there is half the story

You'll fly into Roatán (RTB) — direct flights run from Miami, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas–Fort Worth — and on Saturday afternoon we hop the first-class deck of the ferry for a scenic 90-minute run out to Guanaja. Arrive at Bonacca Cay right around sunset, then a short boat ride to the Rock, where the rum punch is usually already poured. Here's what sets this one apart

This is a private-island buyout, not a room block. The whole Villa on Dunbar Rock — every room, the pool bar, the dive dock, the reef around the rock — belongs to our group for the week. You dive with your people, eat with your people, and watch the sun drop from the infinity pool with your people. That's rare, and it's the whole point.

The diving is the other half. Guanaja's reef remote enough that diver impact is minimal, with 50+ named sites plus more the staff keep "secret" for their guests. Walls, canyons, swim-throughs, and the legendary Jado Trader wreck. Currents are mild to nonexistent. And because the villa sits on its own rock, shore diving off the dock is unlimited — roll in whenever you want, day or night.
